Yardwork

During most of the day I share my living space with a lively group of Ethiopian welders and engineers.  Its their job to design, build, and test prototype versions of low-budget irrigation equipment for rural farming.  Presently, this equipment includes manual well drills and a few different kinds of groundwater pumps.  We have a small yard of gravel and dirt that serves as the building and testing ground for everything.  There is a lot of metal work involved, and therefore a lot of grinding and welding.  A few days ago some of the workers continued until close to dark and the sparks from the arc-welders in the low light created some neat images:
